Coal Consumption is Projected to Increase, BNM Optimizes Facilities and Services

PT Batulicin Nusantara Maritim - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) predicts that consumption of fossil energy such as natural gas and coal is expected to remain high until 2035. This fact is also supported by projections from the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

This high level of consumption will come from the transportation and industrial sectors, each of which will experience an increase in consumption until 2040 and 2035.
The high level of consumption coupled with the recent increase in coal prices has made many coal mining companies and other supporting companies strive to maximize performance and productivity in order to gain even greater profits.

Director of PT BNM, Yuliana said that PT Batulicin Nusantara Maritim (BNM) was no exception, which is a company engaged in the field of coal transportation by sea and river to take advantage of this opportunity. And the condition of the coal commodity which is currently "going on stage" is a motivation as well as a challenge for them.
"As a country rich in mineral resources and located in a maritime ecosystem, the distribution of coal is certainly not enough to rely on land transportation alone. Precisely sea mode of transportation is a vital thing that must be fulfilled so that the distribution process can run quickly and more evenly, "said Yuliana on Tuesday (3/8/2021).

Yuliana also said that in order to maximize the economic value of the coal mining sector, another factor that mining entrepreneurs need to pay attention to is the reliability of the coal transportation itself.

For information, Batulicin Nusantara Maritim is owned by the general chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP HIPMI) Central Governing Body, Mardani H Maming and the General Chairperson of East Java HIPMI, Rois Sunandar Maming.

Currently Batulicin Nusantara Maritim has 16 shipping transportation fleets, consisting of 15 sets of tugboats and barges and 1 landing craft ship.
“Currently PT. BNM already has approximately 15 sets of tugboats and barges, all of which have been ensured to be safe and reliable to operate. In order to support performance, our company also has a Landing Craft Tank, which is a kind of ship used for transportation in the sea and shallow waters," said Yuliana.

Yuliana added that what should be of concern to mining companies that wish to optimize the inter-island distribution process is that they can rent special vessels for mining from companies that focus on sea mode transportation, such as BNM.
