Coal Export Has Been Opened, Transportation Activities are Gradually Normal

PT Batulicin Nusantara Maritim – Coal hauling activities began to return to normal, as the ban on the export of this commodity was lifted in early February 2022.

PT Batulicin Nusantara Maritim (BESS) Director Yuliana said the company welcomed the lifting of the coal export ban, and this would certainly increase shipping activities.

"The reason for coal exports being frozen temporarily for a month is to ensure the availability of domestic supply, this for BESS is not affected legally, financially as long as export activities are frozen," said Yuliana, Wednesday (9/2/2022).

According to him, the government must regulate the rhythm of transporting coal abroad, because the existence of an export permit has again caused shipping activities to pile up after one month of being banned.

"BESS continues to transform with the process of adding new ships and better management arrangements going forward, to support every business activity and provide added value, not only for the company but can also contribute to the nation and state," said Yuliana.
It is known, even though the government has opened coal exports, this does not apply to companies that have not met domestic demand (Domestic Market Obligation/DMO).
